Job Title: Service Charge Accountant

Job Summary And Key Responsibilities

To manage the client finances on a portfolio of businesses, completing key monthly and annual processes, hitting block KPIs and delivering block financial information to Property Managers and Block Directors when requested.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily allocation of leaseholder/supplier payments via the block management system.
  • Inputting budgets into the system and issuing service charge and ground rent invoices.
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Preparing and reviewing on boarding and off boarding accounts
  • Resolving account problems, queries and transactions received from clients
  • Attending meetings online / in person at the office with clients.
  • Accounts vs Budget monthly reviews and ability to explain variances to clients and Property Managers
  • Year end and budgeting reporting requirements for individual locations
  • Liaise with external accountants for the preparation of Service Charge Accounts
  • System housekeeping
  • Release of payments from the bank for contractors
  • Answering daily calls to assist with supplier and client queries

What are we looking for:

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Able to plan and prioritise
  • Excellent IT skills - Experience of Microsoft suite of products, Word, Excel etc.
  • Attention to detail
  • Managing a team
  • Able to communicate at all levels
  • Experience of using Property Management accounts systems, ideally MRI Qube and/or Resident
  • Knowledge of conveyancing
  • Service charge accounting experience
  • Block Management finance experience
  • Knowledge of property market and associated services
  • Knowledge of ARMA compliance rules
  • Team leadership
  • Experience of busy month end routines
  • Experience of working in a sales orientated industry
  • Experience of divisional or departmental accounts
  • Actively studying/Qualified AAT / ACCA / CIMA
