Service Charge Accountant
Remote / Hybrid | 37.5 Hours per Week - Based West of Birmingham City Centre
Are you an experienced Service Charge professional with a background in Housing Associations or supported housing? We're recruiting for a unique opportunity with a well-established organisation that manages a diverse residential property portfolio. This is a highly visible specialist role where you'll take ownership of service charge processes, bring structure to a complex environment, and act as the organisation's subject matter expert.
This isn't a role for someone who simply processes service charge calculations. We're looking for someone who enjoys improving processes, solving problems, and creating robust frameworks that support multiple teams across a business.
The Opportunity
Working closely with Finance, Housing and Operational teams, you'll take ownership of the end-to-end service charge process across a varied residential portfolio of properties.
You'll review existing arrangements, establish clear processes and controls, ensure compliance, and create a service charge function that is accurate, transparent and sustainable.
This is a standalone specialist position with strong internal support and significant stakeholder exposure.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
