I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who we're looking for
You don't necessarily need previous experience within power generation.
We'd particularly like to hear from people with experience in service coordination, engineering administration, transport planning, fleet coordination, scheduling, hire coordination or field service support.
You'll Need
- Excellent organisation and planning skills
- Experience coordinating multiple jobs, Engineers, drivers or field-based colleagues
- A strong customer service background
- Confidence managing changing priorities and urgent requests
- A professional and confident telephone manner
- Strong attention to detail
- Good IT and administration skills
- The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy operational environment
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with customers, Engineers and operational teams
Previous experience within engineering, plant hire, generator hire, power generation, transport, fleet or field service would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can take ownership, organise effectively and keep both our Engineers and customers informed.
