Job Description

Service Cost Officer – Policy

Full time

Derby

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated leader to join the Trent XWB team as a Services Cost Officer – Policy.

With over 700 aircraft in service and a growing order book of aircraft, the Trent XWB Value Stream covers the full breadth of activity of those engines in service and provides a unique opportunity to develop business breadth across the lifecycle of an engine.

Reporting to the Cost Managers, you will work on defining a robust cost strategy roadmap and policies, baseline cost assumptions for both existing and future business, as well as evaluating the business impact of cost reduction proposals. These underpin the profitability of Trent XWB, so they have a direct impact on our business performance.

What You Will Be Doing

The key responsibilities for this role are to support the Service Cost Manager-Policy to deliver the following:

  • Supporting and helping to define the Cost strategy consistent with delivery of improved contract returns, business plan requirements, and margin improvement objectives.
  • Support all areas of service cost, including forecasting of service cost, risk provisioning, and understanding the cost benefit from delivering repairs, limits, and life extensions for the overhaul of engines. The role will also work closely with Services Business and Service Delivery to ensure consistency across Services.
  • Drive activities that feed into the Product Attributes Document (or equivalent), ensuring the inputs are robust, with clear action plans to reach the committed attributes where required.
  • Generation of a cost base for both engine types for financial reporting, which will include shop cost, services cost, and time on wing inputs that feed into the Contract Review Pack process.
  • Support the Technical Risk Provision process which financially provisions for new and emerging risks outside of the Contract Review Packs.
  • Lead the delivery of service cost reduction initiatives for both Shop Visit Cost and Non-Shop Visit related cost. Once such initiatives are committed, ensure delivery of these commitments are in line with business expectations of both value and timing.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
