About the Role
Why Join the Right to Buy Team?
The Right to Buy (RTB) team delivers a vital statutory service that helps eligible council tenants achieve home ownership. The team is responsible for managing applications from initial enquiry through to the formal offer stage, ensuring compliance with legislation, protecting the Council's interests and supporting residents through one of the most significant decisions they will make. The service operates within statutory timescales and plays an important role in delivering positive outcomes for Nottingham residents.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and specialist team where your contribution will make a real difference. You'll gain expertise in housing legislation, work closely with colleagues across Housing, Legal Services and Property, and play a key role in shaping and improving the service as it prepares for future legislative changes. The work is varied, rewarding and offers the chance to lead improvements, develop colleagues and influence how the service is delivered.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to develop a strong service understanding and effectively apply knowledge of statutory requirements and legislation to support service activities and projects, due to the statutory nature of the Right to Buy service and the requirement to meet legal timescales.
- Highly developed organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, urgent situations and tight deadlines while maintaining excellent customer service. Essential for managing RTB caseloads and statutory deadlines.
- Previous experience of leading a team or project, delegating tasks, monitoring performance and supporting staff training and development. Required to provide day-to-day supervision and strengthen team resilience.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of customers, colleagues and external partners.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues and remain calm under pressure when dealing with challenging situations.
- Experience of developing and embedding effective business processes, systems and new ways of working to improve services and customer outcomes.
