About the role
We're looking for an experienced Service Designer to join CACI, working across complex digital transformation programmes within the UK government. This is a client-facing role where you'll work directly with CACI's customers, helping to understand complex problems and design effective, user-centred services from discovery through to delivery.
You'll take the lead on service design activity within individual projects, working closely with user researchers, UX designers, engineers, and senior stakeholders to influence how services are shaped and delivered. This isn't a people-management position, but you'll be expected to take ownership of service design within the projects you work on, shaping how services are designed, influencing client thinking, and working across significant government digital transformation programmes.
What you'll be doing
- Leading service design activity across government digital services and transformation programmes
- Planning and running discovery work to understand user, organisational, and service needs
- Facilitating workshops with clients, users, and multidisciplinary delivery teams
- Creating service maps, journey maps, blueprints, and other service design artefacts
- Identifying pain points, opportunities, and improvements across end-to-end services
- Translating research and insight into clear recommendations and service design decisions
- Working directly with government clients and senior stakeholders to communicate and influence design decisions
- Collaborating with user research, UX, technology, and delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Applying user-centred design principles and Government Digital Service standards throughout delivery
- Supporting projects as they move from discovery through alpha, beta, and live service

What we're looking for
- Strong commercial experience in end-to-end service design
- Experience working within central government or delivering digital services for central government departments
- Strong understanding of GDS principles, the Service Standard, and government digital delivery
- Experience working across discovery, alpha, beta, and live service environments
- Experience planning and facilitating discovery workshops
- Strong service mapping, journey mapping, and service blueprinting experience
- Experience working directly with clients and senior stakeholders
- The ability to turn complex problems and research findings into clear, practical service improvements
- Confidence influencing design decisions within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience working within Agile digital delivery environments
- Experience taking services through GDS Service Assessments would be particularly valuable, although this isn't essential.

Security clearance
You'll need to be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) for this position. Existing SC clearance would be a strong advantage.
