Service Designer

Are you ready to untangle intricate public services and turn complex policy into intuitive, accessible digital experiences?

RMG is seeking a Service Designer to take ownership of service design across high-profile central government transformation programmes. Based in London on a full-time, permanent hybrid model (three days per week in the office), this client-facing consulting role puts you at the core of major public sector digital initiatives.

Collaborating closely with user researchers, UX specialists, and technical teams, you will champion user-centred design from initial problem definition through delivery, ensuring critical services work seamlessly for both the public and civil servants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of service design activities across vital government digital programmes, shaping holistic, user-focused solutions.
  • Plan and run discovery phases to uncover user needs, organisational constraints, and technical requirements.
  • Design and facilitate collaborative workshops, co-design sessions, and journey-mapping exercises with multidisciplinary teams and public sector clients.
  • Develop practical service design artefacts, including service blueprints, ecosystem maps, and touchpoint analyses, to identify pain points and design interventions.
  • Translate complex user research and technical constraints into actionable design recommendations, guiding services smoothly through Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior government stakeholders, articulating design rationale and building consensus around key decisions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
