Service Desk Agent – 6-month Fixed Term Contract (FTC)

Royal Greenwich is proud to be a borough synonymous with delivering high-quality modern services. A World Heritage Site with vibrant and diverse communities, we are committed to improving residents' lives through excellence, innovation and collaboration.

As a key customer-facing role within Digital Services, our Service Desk is driven by a commitment to excellent customer service. You are often the first experience colleagues have of Digital Services and play a key role in delivering a positive support experience.

By supporting staff in their use of technology, you'll help ensure Council services remain available to the residents and communities who rely on them. You'll support a modern Microsoft-focused technology estate including Microsoft 365, Windows devices, mobile technology and business applications, helping staff across the Council remain productive and connected.

As the first point of contact for technology support, you will assist colleagues with a wide range of technical issues, from everyday queries through to more complex incidents and service requests. You will take a positive and proactive approach to helping customers, resolving issues wherever possible and escalating where appropriate.

Working as part of a team committed to delivering excellent customer service, your collaborative approach, problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn will contribute to the success of Digital Services and the wider Council.

We're looking for someone who enjoys helping others, takes ownership of issues, communicates clearly and remains calm under pressure. Whether you have previous Service Desk experience or a strong customer service background with a passion for technology, we'd love to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
