About the Role
Manchester is one of the UK's most dynamic and internationally recognised cities, attracting millions of visitors every year. As Visitor Information Manager, you'll play a central role in shaping visitors' first impressions of Manchester while leading a service that sits at the heart of one of the city's most iconic destinations, Manchester Central Library.
This is an exciting opportunity to combine leadership, customer experience, tourism, culture and commercial development in a highly visible role. You'll lead a dedicated team within the Visitor Information Centre, ensuring residents, visitors and tourists receive accurate, inspiring and welcoming support while helping them make the most of everything Manchester has to offer.
No two days are the same. One day you could be developing partnerships with cultural organisations, attractions and tourism providers; the next you could be launching new retail products, improving services, supporting major city events, or leading initiatives that enhance the visitor experience and generate income for the service.

You'll be an ambassador for the city, working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders while helping to showcase Manchester's culture, heritage and unique identity to people from across the UK and around the world.

The Visitor Information Manager plays a vital role in achieving Manchester City Council's ambition to deliver excellent customer service, support the city's visitor economy and promote Manchester as a welcoming, vibrant destination. Based within Manchester Central Library, one of the city's leading cultural attractions, the role provides operational leadership for the Visitor Information Centre, ensuring residents, visitors and tourists receive a high-quality, knowledgeable and professional service.

Essential Requirements for the Role
- Proven staff line management experience in a retail or tourism related environment.
- Flexibility to work unsocial hours, including weekends and evenings to meet the needs of the service, includes a flexibility payment of 6.7%
- Experience and understanding of delivering excellent customer service.
- Excellent digital and ICT skills across a range of packages, knowledge of their use in the development of service areas.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience of working with partners to enhance the service.
- Experience of library stock management and associated systems.
