Job Summary

Join NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) and help shape the future of specialist patient services across England and Wales. As a Service Development Manager within Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS), you’ll play a vital role in delivering improvements that support patients, colleagues and healthcare partners. Working as part of the TAS Management Team, you’ll lead national programmes that introduce new technologies and services, improve ways of working, standardise best practice and strengthen service performance. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a service that changes lives, while working with experts across NHSBT and the wider NHS. If you thrive on leading change, solving complex challenges and influencing service improvement at a national level, this role offers the chance to contribute, learn and progress in an organisation where your work truly matters.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead national improvement and development projects that help deliver better outcomes for patients and strengthen Therapeutic Apheresis Services across the NHS, including the planning and delivery of new TAS units.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of new services and patient pathways working with operational teams, clinical colleagues and external partners.
  • Build strong relationships across NHSBT and partner organisations including with Trusts, commercial customers, commissioners and suppliers to influence decisions, secure engagement and deliver successful change programmes.
  • Help shape the future direction of TAS by contributing to strategic planning, service development and organisational priorities.
  • Analyse complex information, identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that enhance quality, efficiency and performance.
  • Develop and present business cases to senior managers to secure investment in the development of TAS services.
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary project teams, creating an inclusive environment where people can contribute, learn and succeed.
  • Analyse risks and impacts of change initiatives. Monitor project progress, manage risks, drive timely delivery, and provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Influence, motivate, and support colleagues, to foster engagement in change initiatives.
  • Provide service development support to local TAS units.
  • Contribute to horizon scanning, identifying opportunities and risks.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
