Service Director - Economy, Property & Regeneration
📍 North East England | Hybrid Working
💰 £700 - £1,000 per day
We are supporting a leading local authority in the North East in appointing an experienced Interim Service Director - Economy, Property & Regeneration.
This is a high-profile leadership opportunity for a strategic and commercially minded public sector leader to drive economic growth, regeneration, inward investment, asset management, and business development across a diverse portfolio. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping place-based growth strategies and delivering major regeneration and investment programmes.
Key Responsibilities of the Service Director of Economy, Property and Regeneration:
- Lead the delivery of economic growth, regeneration, property, and inward investment strategies.
- Drive business growth initiatives and develop strong relationships with businesses, investors, and regional stakeholders.
- Oversee the management, modernisation, and strategic development of significant property and land assets.
- Secure external funding opportunities and maximise investment into regeneration and economic development projects.
- Lead major programmes and capital projects that support employment, business growth, and community prosperity.
- Provide strategic advice to senior elected members, executive leadership teams, and key external partners.

The Successful Service Director of Economy, Property and Regeneration will have:
- Significant senior leadership experience within local government or a related public sector environment.
- A strong track record in regeneration, economic development, property, growth, or investment.
- Extensive programme and project management experience.
- Proven success in stakeholder engagement, partnership working, and influencing at a senior level.
- Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Experience working with elected members, government agencies, businesses, and regional partners.
