Service Engineer - EV Charging / EV Engineer / EV Charging Engineer
£45,000 Salary Guide + Company EV
UK Wide Travel (England & Wales predominantly)
Are you an experienced EV Service Engineer, EV Charging Engineer or Electrical Service Engineer looking to build your career within one of the UK's established EV charging technology businesses?
We are looking for an experienced EV Service Engineer to join a growing engineering team, providing technical support, fault diagnosis, maintenance and commissioning of AC and DC EV charging equipment across commercial and private sites throughout the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical or EV charging engineer to work with a leading UK manufacturer and supplier of AC fast and DC rapid EV charging technology, supporting customers, installation partners and internal engineering teams.
The Role Service Engineer / EV Service Engineer / EV Charging Engineer
As an EV Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the testing, configuration, inspection, maintenance and fault finding of EV charging equipment.
The role will involve frequent travel to customer and contractor sites across the UK, working on both AC EV chargers and DC rapid charging systems.
You will also provide an important link between customers, contractors and the company's internal engineering and R&D teams, helping to identify recurring issues and support ongoing product development.
Key responsibilities
- Attend customer and contractor sites across the UK to diagnose and repair AC and DC EV chargers.
- Undertake planned and reactive inspection and preventative maintenance in accordance with technical and manufacturer requirements.
- Test, commission and configure DC EV chargers within the factory when required.
- Provide remote technical support to contractors and customers, talking through fault-finding and potential solutions while they are on site.
- Test and troubleshoot EV charger firmware, applications and cloud integrations.
- Complete accurate service reports, maintenance records and technical documentation.
- Assist with the development, testing and improvement of EV charging products and associated technologies.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and technical support.

About You Service Engineer / EV Service Engineer / EV Charging Engineer
We are looking for an experienced EV charging engineer with a strong electrical background and practical experience working with EV charging technology.
You will ideally have experience working on DC rapid charging systems, together with a good understanding of electrical testing and fault diagnosis.
You should be comfortable working independently at customer sites, diagnosing technical problems and communicating with customers and contractors to resolve issues efficiently.
Essential experience and qualifications
- Previous experience as an EV Service Engineer, EV Charging Engineer, EV Charger Engineer, Electrical Service Engineer or similar working with EV DC charging equipment.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification.
- ECS Card.
- Practical experience of electrical testing, commissioning and fault diagnosis.
- Experience with OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) and EV charging communications.
- Experience troubleshooting technical issues involving EV chargers, software, firmware or connectivity.
- As a customer-facing EV Service Engineer, excellent communication skills are essential.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the UK.
