Location: Enfield / St Albans / Harlow area

Salary: Up to £40,000 + on-call payments, paid travel, and overtime

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 8.30am - 5.00pm + emergency call-out rota

Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence Essential

The Role

We are recruiting for a Service Engineer to join our team, supporting customers across the compressed air and industrial electrical sectors.

This is a hands-on field-based position involving the maintenance, repair, fault finding, installation, and commissioning of equipment at customer sites.

The ideal candidate will be technically minded, self-motivated, and confident working independently while providing a professional service.

Duties

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on compressed air and electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose faults using effective mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
  • Install, commission, and repair machinery at customer premises.
  • Attend breakdowns and complete allocated work efficiently and safely.
  • Organise your daily workload and liaise with customers regarding appointments and progress.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Complete service reports, timesheets, and other required paperwork promptly.
  • Follow company procedures, quality standards, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Adhere to individual customer site rules and working practices.
  • Maintain company tools, spare parts, PPE, and vehicle in good condition.
  • Participate in the emergency out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • Attend training on new and existing products when required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively.
  • Support continuous improvement and the company's Quality Management procedures.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties according to business requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Recognised technical qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent training is preferable.
  • Minimum 2 years' practical engineering experience.
  • Background in compressed air, industrial machinery, electrical systems, or similar equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding ability.
  • Previous experience with installation, servicing, or repair.
  • Able to work independently and manage a daily workload effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused with a professional approach.
  • Flexible and willing to learn new equipment and technologies.
  • Commitment to safe working practices and quality.
  • Full UK driving licence - essential.
  • Willingness to join an emergency call-out rota.

About You

We're looking for a reliable, practical, and customer-focused engineer who enjoys working in the field and solving technical problems.

You should be confident visiting different sites, dealing directly with customers, and completing work to a high standard without constant supervision.

Full product training will be provided where required, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to develop their knowledge.

Trainee Engineers may also be considered.
