Service Engineer

Forklift & Warehouse Equipment

Location: Burton upon Trent / Chesterfield

Role type: On-site & Field-based

A well-established material handling company supplying and supporting forklift trucks and warehouse equipment to a wide range of customers is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its service team.

This role is primarily field based, with some on-site work, and involves maintaining and repairing a fleet of trucks across the Burton upon / Chesterfield area.

The Role

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment
  • Working on a variety of equipment including electric, LPG and diesel counterbalance, pallet, and reach trucks
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs efficiently and safely
  • Completing planned maintenance, inspections and breakdowns
  • Representing the company professionally at customer sites
  • Managing your workload independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety

Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Strong, hands-on experience working with forklift trucks
  • Mechanical engineering background
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based role
  • Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with Still or Linde equipment
  • LOLER Certification
  • Multi-skilled mechanical/electrical/hydraulics

Training

Ongoing training and support is provided. Manufacturer or product training available to develop skills across a wider range of equipment.

Package & Benefits

  • £36,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
  • Company van
  • Phone and laptop provided
  • Pension scheme
  • Death in service benefit
  • Door-to-door pay
  • Overtime available and paid at time and a half or double time

Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am – 5:00pm
  • Overtime available

Tools

Engineers are required to supply their own basic tools. All personal tools are fully insured by the company.
