Company Description
Yellow Power Ltd is based in Stoke-on-Trent and designs, supplies, and installs new and used diesel and gas-powered generation systems, providing full ancillary equipment, commissioning, after-sales, and maintenance services. The company can supply generators from any manufacturer, with particular expertise in high-quality mtu gas generator products. Drawing on extensive industry experience, Yellow Power Ltd delivers fully engineered, cost-effective solutions tailored to each customer’s operational and budget requirements. The business supports a wide range of power generation applications, including diesel standby, peak lopping, Capacity Market, STOR, and data centers. It also serves diverse sectors such as CHP, district heating, landfill, sewage, and anaerobic digestion. Yellow Power is now developing a service department to offer support to our nationwide customers.
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid Service Engineer role based in the Midlands area, with some nationwide travel, overnight stays, on-call, and remote support out of hours.
The Service Engineer will carry out on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of diesel and gas generator systems and associated ancillary equipment.

Daily responsibilities include:
- Remote monitoring
- Diagnosing technical issues
- Performing troubleshooting
- Completing scheduled and reactive service visits
- Ensuring all work meets safety, regulatory, and manufacturer standards
The role involves providing technical support to customers, documenting service activities, and collaborating with internal teams to coordinate parts, upgrades, and follow-up visits.
The Service Engineer will also communicate clearly with clients, offering guidance on system operation and contributing to continuous improvement of service processes.
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for diesel and gas power generation systems.
- Hands-on field service experience, including on-site installation, maintenance, and support.
- Technical support capabilities, with the ability to interpret manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical components within generator sets and ancillary equipment.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, NVQ, mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical engineering).
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to power generation and site work.
- Ability to work independently, manage time and travel schedules, and adapt quickly to changing customer needs and work priorities.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
- Experience with CHP, district heating, or industrial power generation applications is an advantage.
- Gas Safe, HV awareness, and any product training from MTU, MWM, Caterpillar, Cummins is an advantage.
