Role Description
This is a full-time Service Engineer role based in Colchester with a hybrid working arrangement, combining on-site work with some work-from-home flexibility. The Service Engineer will diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on forestry, recycling, and construction machinery, both in the field and at customer locations. Daily activities include:
- Performing scheduled maintenance and repairs
- Commissioning and installing new equipment
- Providing technical support and guidance to customers and colleagues
The role involves:
- Preparing accurate service reports
- Maintaining service tools and equipment
- Coordinating with the parts and workshop teams to ensure timely resolutions
The Service Engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement in after-sales service quality and uphold health, safety, and environmental standards during all site visits and workshop activities.

Qualifications
- Ability to perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on complex machinery and systems.
- Experience in field service operations, including on-site visits and mobile support.
- Strong technical support skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Proficiency in maintenance and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or similar).
- Familiarity with forestry, recycling, construction, or heavy plant machinery is an advantage.
- Ability to work safely under varying site conditions and travel as required within the region.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license suitable for field-based engineering work.
