Position: Field Service Engineer

Term: 40 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-3.30pm). Overtime available

Location: UK Travel, Boroughbridge HQ

Frequent overnight stays (on average at least 3 nights per week)

Weekend work may be required and on a rota basis

Holiday: 26 days + bank holidays + your birthday off

As a service engineer, you’ll be on the frontlines, ensuring that our shredders perform at their peak across customer sites. This is an ideal role for hands-on problem solvers who love a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements:

  • Formal mechanical engineering apprenticeship/qualifications
  • Good knowledge and experience of gearboxes & bearings
  • Skilled in servicing, inspecting, installing, and commissioning machinery then recording findings accurately.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, manuals, drawings, and other specification document
  • Flexible working hours including some occasional stays away from home/weekends
  • High standards of cleanliness in the workplace
  • UK driving licence
  • Health & safety appreciation in the workplace
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience in slinging and lifting
  • Customer facing attitude, and strong interpersonal skills

  • Work on hydraulics & pneumatic circuits
  • Carry out machine repairs on and off site
  • Read engineering drawings
  • Prepare service reports
  • Problem solve & diagnose faults

Desirable (but not essential) experience:

  • Welding & burning
