Role Description
The Service Engineer role at Fumair Ltd is a full-time, on-site based around the UK with our head office in Hertford. The Service Engineer will perform installation, maintenance, and repair of fume cupboards, extract systems, and airflow monitoring/control equipment at customer locations. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing technical issues, carrying out routine servicing, performing safety and performance checks, and providing technical support and guidance to clients. The role involves documenting work performed, preparing service reports, and communicating clearly with customers and internal teams to ensure high service standards. The Service Engineer will also collaborate with the manufacturing and engineering teams to feedback field insights that support continuous product improvement.

Qualifications
- Strong Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues effectively.
- Maintenance & Repair skills to service and restore mechanical and electrical components of fume cupboards and related systems.
- Field Service experience, including working on-site at customer premises and managing service visits independently.
- Solid Communication skills to interact professionally with clients, write clear service reports, and collaborate with colleagues.
- Relevant technical qualifications in engineering, electrical, mechanical, or HVAC disciplines, or equivalent practical experience would be an advantage but not essential.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer locations as required within the UK.
- Experience with laboratory or ventilation systems is an advantage, along with familiarity with health and safety standards and regulations.

The Candidate
- P601 qualification would be beneficial, but not essential, as training will be provided.
- Presentable and polite, with strong communication skills.
- Reasonably physically able, with a head for heights and occasional confined spaces.
- A willingness to be flexible, work hard, often on their own, and learn as they go.
- The role will involve occasional long working hours and nights away with overtime, expenses, and accommodation covered.
- Must hold a clean UK driving license.
- Must be willing to undergo a DBS check and occasional background security checks at some sensitive sites.

Salary: £30k to £45k depending on experience.
