Service Engineer

INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

Location: South London

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, overtime, on-call rota

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

About the Role

The Service Engineer plays a vital role in supporting depot operations by assisting with daily tasks and performing inspections and repairs on the hire fleet at customer locations and sites.

In addition, the Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all fleet trailers remain legally compliant through regular inspections, servicing, and repairs both while on hire and within company depots.

The role also includes supporting the technical centre, with fleet upgrades as required, ensuring alignment with operational targets set by the Regional Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out all work within company depots and customer sites with strict adherence to health and safety protocols
  • Conduct thorough inspections, servicing, repairs, and fault resolution for all hire fleet assets
  • Complete paperwork accurately, on time, recording details of inspections, repairs, and servicing. Clearly distinguish between fair wear and tear, customer-related damage, and warranty failures to maintain transparency and accountability
  • Report hazards and near misses to support SRL’s “Don’t Walk By” safety culture
  • Take responsibility for work tools, spare stock, and company-assigned vehicle. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, adequately stocked, and ready for operational use
  • Wear correct PPE and work in line with RAMS, COSHH, and toolbox talks
  • Represent SRL positively through professional behaviour and appearance
  • Take part in training and development activities. Engineers will be expected to engage in both theoretical and practical training sessions

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
