3 months contract with a local authority
Rate: £500 per day umbrella
Summary
This is a 3-month contract position with a local authority, offering a daily rate of £500 under an umbrella arrangement. The Service Manager will lead and manage a high-quality Children's Social Care service, focusing on safeguarding children and supporting families to achieve positive outcomes. The role involves providing strategic and operational leadership across teams handling complex cases, child protection issues, and looked-after children, ensuring services are delivered effectively, safely, and in compliance with statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to Children's Social Care teams.
- Lead and manage the delivery of high-quality social work practices across the service area.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Offer professional guidance and oversight on complex and high-risk cases.
- Establish and maintain clear performance standards, practice expectations, and accountability frameworks.
- Develop and motivate staff through effective supervision, coaching, and performance management.

Requirements:
- Significant experience within Children's Social Care services.
- Experience managing safeguarding, child protection, looked-after children, or family support services.
- Proven experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Recognised Social Work Qualification (Degree, Diploma, CQSW, CSS or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.

Additional Information
- Working hours are 37 hours per week.
- The role is based at Cambridgeshire Police Headquarters, Hinchingbrooke Business Park, Brampton Road, Huntingdon, PE29 6NP.
- Hybrid working arrangements are available, ideally 3 days in person and 2 days at home.
- An enhanced DBS with Adults & Children's Barred List is required.
- Payments are made on a bi-weekly schedule.
