Service Manager - Youth Homelessness
We are seeking a compassionate Service Manager to lead emergency accommodation for young people, helping them build stability and move towards a secure future.
Position: Service Manager - Youth Homelessness
Salary: £34,460 - £37,800 per annum, dependent on experience
Location: Bristol, primarily an in-person role
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Closing date: 11 October 2026
About the role
A safe place to stay can be the first step towards a brighter future. This role offers the opportunity to lead an emergency accommodation service supporting young people aged 18-25 who are experiencing housing crisis.
You will ensure the service provides a safe, welcoming and psychologically informed environment, where young people are treated with dignity and supported towards suitable longer-term accommodation.
Combining operational management with a strong focus on relationships, you will lead staff and volunteers to deliver effective, person-centred support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing daily operations, including referrals, assessments and placements.
- Overseeing safeguarding and risk management, supported by the safeguarding team.
- Supporting and supervising staff and volunteers, creating an inclusive and reflective culture.
- Maintaining safe, clean and well-equipped accommodation.
- Building partnerships to help young people access specialist support and suitable housing.
- Managing the service budget and improving delivery through data, feedback and lived experience.

The role generally operates Monday to Friday, with some evening, weekend and early morning working required. You will also participate in an on-call rota, including occasional overnight incident response.
About you
You will have experience managing or coordinating a direct support service, project or operational area, alongside experience working with people affected by homelessness, housing insecurity or disadvantage.
You will bring:
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience assessing needs and risks.
- Experience supporting, supervising or managing staff, volunteers or frontline workers.
- The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
- Excellent organisational, communication and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to trauma-responsive, psychologically informed and person-centred approaches.
- A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Experience in supported housing, emergency accommodation or services for young people would be advantageous. Candidates who bring most of the required skills and qualities are encouraged to apply.
