What you’ll be doing
- Lead the service department with ownership, clarity, and confidence, including:
- Running the service department - overseeing day‑to‑day operations and ensuring everything runs smoothly
- Managing equipment checks - including Red Pen Checks and compliance inspections
- Championing workshop safety - embedding safe working practices and high standards
- Overseeing repairs - ensuring maximum equipment availability
- Leading and developing the team - coaching, supporting, and driving performance
- Maintaining statutory training - ensuring all qualifications remain up to date
- Ensuring compliance across the workshop and yard
- Processing timesheets accurately and on time
- Delivering toolbox talks and regular team briefings
- Monitoring spend - analysing PO reports to identify savings and highlight overspend
- Supporting recruitment of workshop fitters when required
- Driving engagement and productivity across the department

What we're looking for
- Proven management or supervisory experience
- Confident leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence
- Exceptional organisation and attention to detail
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong communication skills and a people‑first approach
- Health & Safety awareness
- Good Excel skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent
- Plant hire, workshop, or construction equipment experience
