Service Manager - Directorate of Critical Care, Theatres and Anaesthetics

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Service Manager to join the Directorate of Critical Care, Theatres and Anaesthetics.

This is a key operational leadership role responsible for supporting the safe, effective and efficient delivery of anaesthetic and critical care services. Working closely with clinical, nursing and operational colleagues, the postholder will provide visible day to day leadership, ensuring that services are responsive to patient demand, deliver high quality care and meet key performance objectives.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of acute hospital operations and experience of working in complex healthcare environments. They will be an effective relationship builder, manage service pressures and drive continuous improvement.

Experience of workforce planning and medical rota management would be advantageous, alongside knowledge of contracting and managing outsourced activity to support service capacity and performance.

We are seeking an individual with excellent people management and leadership skills, who can support and develop teams, oversee performance and workforce management, and lead service improvement initiatives. The role requires a proactive and collaborative leader who can balance operational delivery with longer term strategic development, ensuring anaesthetic and critical care services remain safe, sustainable and patient focused.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
