Are you an experienced, values-led leader who can bring energy, confidence and compassion to services supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community? This is an exciting opportunity to join Conwy County Borough Council as Service Manager for Vulnerable People Services, leading a diverse portfolio that helps people maintain independence, improve wellbeing and receive the right support at the right time.
You will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Vulnerable People’s Team, Personal Advisors, Mental Wellness Team, Deprivation of Liberty Service and Deputy’s Unit. Reporting to the Head of Children, Family and Safeguarding Services, you will also work closely with the Heads of Service for Adults and Strategic Housing where responsibilities overlap, and provide professional advice to the Director and relevant Cabinet Member when required.
You will lead the design, delivery and commissioning of services that are safe, effective, sustainable and responsive to need. In a challenging financial environment, you will bring strong professional leadership, sound judgement and a clear focus on quality, performance, improvement, governance and value for money.
You will also strengthen safeguarding culture across the Local Authority and hold delegated responsibility for the Agency Decision Maker function, supporting robust and timely decision-making for Children Looked After and the Fostering Service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
