We are Hestia. We make a difference.
At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Service Manager to play a pivotal role in Crisis Recovery House in Thanet, Kent.
Sounds great, what will I be doing?
As Service Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, performance, and continuous development of TRH, ensuring the delivery of a safe, welcoming, and person-centred crisis service that provides an effective alternative to hospital admission. You will lead a recovery-focused, psychologically informed, and strengths-based model of support, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, legislation, safeguarding responsibilities, and Hestia's quality standards. Working closely with clinical, statutory, and community partners, you will drive service improvement through the use of data, outcomes, resident feedback, and learning, while maintaining effective risk management, safeguarding, and governance processes. You will provide visible, values-led leadership to the team, overseeing workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and development to ensure the service remains well staffed and equipped to deliver high-quality support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What do I need to bring with me?
You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
