Service Operations Manager

Corby, Northamptonshire | £55,000 + Car/Car Allowance + Bonus

The Opportunity

I’m looking for an experienced Service Operations Manager to take full ownership of an established engineering service operation. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will have responsibility for the people, customers, operational delivery and full departmental P&L, leading a team of field service engineers and supporting staff.

This is a highly autonomous role, suited to someone who enjoys taking charge, improving processes and being accountable for the overall performance of their department.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading, managing and developing a team of field service engineers and support staff.
  • Taking full ownership of the departmental P&L, including revenue, costs, margins and profitability.
  • Planning and coordinating planned, reactive and remedial service work.
  • Managing engineer workloads, utilisation, travel, accommodation and expenses.
  • Overseeing the service and spares operation.
  • Maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring issues are resolved effectively.
  • Producing regular operational and commercial reports for the General Manager.
  • Analysing performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Working closely with Sales to ensure service work is delivered effectively.
  • Improving processes, controls and reporting across the department.
  • Taking ownership of problems and ensuring they are followed through to resolution.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
