Service & Storage Engineer – Contract

Location: Maidenhead / Remote
Working Pattern: Predominantly remote, with occasional travel to Maidenhead
Rate: Competitive day rate
IR35: TBC

We are looking for an experienced Service & Storage Engineer to support a major infrastructure assessment, refresh and modernisation programme.

This is a hands-on technical role working across a live, business-critical server, storage, virtualisation and backup estate. You'll assess existing infrastructure, identify dependencies and support the delivery of upgrades, migrations and hardware replacements while maintaining service continuity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess existing production server and storage environments
  • Deliver server, storage and infrastructure upgrades and replacements
  • Support and troubleshoot Dell PowerEdge servers
  • Administer and migrate Dell EMC Unity storage
  • Support NetApp environments, ideally including MetroCluster
  • Administer and upgrade VMware vSphere / ESXi environments
  • Support Veeam Backup & Replication, including hardened repositories
  • Map dependencies across physical servers, hypervisors, storage and backup infrastructure
  • Support infrastructure lifecycle and end-of-support planning
  • Deliver controlled changes with appropriate testing and rollback plans
  • Produce technical documentation, inventories and implementation records
  • Coordinate with internal teams, stakeholders and infrastructure vendors

Essential Experience

  • Strong hands-on Dell EMC Unity experience
  • Strong NetApp storage administration and troubleshooting experience
  • VMware vSphere / ESXi administration and upgrade experience
  • Veeam Backup & Replication
  • Dell PowerEdge server experience
  • Enterprise SAN/storage environments
  • Infrastructure upgrades, migrations or hardware refresh programmes
  • Experience delivering changes within live production environments

Experience with NetApp MetroCluster, Veeam hardened repositories and Dell PowerStore would be particularly advantageous.

Location

The role can be performed predominantly remotely, although we're particularly interested in candidates based in the South of England who can travel to Maidenhead occasionally.

The rate and IR35 determination are currently being finalised, so we're interested in speaking with contractors operating on both an Inside and Outside IR35 basis.
