Role Overview
As our Service Team Leader, you will play a key role in managing performance across the Yorkshire region. You’ll be responsible for effective rota management, supporting a team of Specialists, ensuring exceptional customer engagement, and helping to grow future business opportunities.
You’ll work closely with Specialists, sales teams, RBMs, and technical colleagues to ensure customers receive outstanding value and consistent service delivery.
You’ll collaborate daily with:
- Reproductive Management Specialists
- Sales & Breeding Advisors and Key Account Managers
- Regional Business Managers
- Customers
- Business Development Managers
- TAG Team
You Will
Operational & Team Management
- Manage the rota effectively, including efficiently allocating 322 cover days and communicating schedules with approximately 6 weeks’ notice.
- Arrange and provide rota cover for holidays or sickness.
- Line-manage direct reports, including objective setting, mid-year and year-end reviews, and ongoing development aligned to the Specialist competency framework.
Training & Performance Development
- Support new staff through technical and practical training to ensure they can confidently carry out their Specialist roles.
- Regularly ride out with Specialists to provide coaching, technical support, and constructive feedback.
- Actively monitor reproductive performance through tools such as Bovisync, working with Specialists and the Technical Services Team to drive improvements.
- Take proactive steps to address underperformance, including involvement in quarterly meetings and targeted action plans.
Customer & Business Development
- Work with RBMs, Sales teams, and TAG to deliver quality reviews for Service customers, highlighting RMS success, value, and opportunities for improvement.
- Build strong customer relationships and champion the value of Genus services.
- Support the RBM in prospecting for new RMS customers and identifying opportunities to promote Genus products and technology—including Ingenuity.
- Share commercial leads with Business Advisors, Technical Services, and Sales teams.

Collaboration & Leadership
- Champion future business strategies and support change initiatives driven by the RBM.
- Promote a positive health & safety culture, reporting and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Participate in regional Team Leader meetings and support wider team activities.
- Carry out any additional responsibilities as required by the RBM.
Requirements
- Extensive on-farm experience — essential for rota cover.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building strong relationships.
- A genuine desire to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
- The confidence to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
