As we continue to expand our presence across Europe, we are looking for a technically skilled and customer-focused Field Service & Technical Support Engineer to join our European team.
The Role
The Field Service & Technical Support Engineer serves as the primary technical contact for customers and distribution partners in the UK and supports selected activities across Europe.
The role combines hands-on field service, remote technical support, customer training and technical consultation. You will work closely with customers, distributors, sales teams and colleagues in Europe and Japan to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction and equipment performance.
As one of the technical faces of Anritsu in the market, you will play a key role in maintaining customer confidence and strengthening our reputation for service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Support & Service
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers and distributors.
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical and application-related issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections and system health checks.
- Install, commission and validate new equipment.
- Perform repairs and corrective maintenance activities.
- Document service activities and maintain accurate service records.

Technical Expertise & Training
- Configure equipment to meet customer application requirements.
- Deliver customer operator and maintenance training.
- Support distributors with technical troubleshooting and best practices.
- Escalate complex technical issues and coordinate resolution with engineering teams in Japan.
- Assist customers in maximizing equipment performance and uptime.
Commercial & Business Support
- Support equipment demonstrations, factory acceptance tests and customer visits.
- Assist sales and distribution partners in technical discussions with customers.
- Identify recurring customer challenges and provide feedback to improve products and services.
- Contribute to the development of Anritsu's technical support capabilities in Europe.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Engineering and Operations colleagues across Europe.
- Maintain service reports, maintenance records and CRM updates.
- Support showroom, demonstration equipment and internal testing activities when required.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Technical qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in field service, technical support or industrial equipment maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills covering electrical, mechanical and control systems.
- Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Full UK driving license.
- Fluent English.

Preferred
- Experience with product inspection systems, including checkweighers, metal detectors, and X-ray inspection equipment, as well as packaging machinery and automation solutions for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled machinery and industrial automation systems.
- Experience working with distributors or indirect sales channels.
- Additional European language skills are an advantage.
Travel Requirements
- Frequent travel within the United Kingdom.
- Occasional travel throughout Continental Europe.
- Approximately 40-60% travel, depending on customer demand and project activity.

Salary Range: GBP 34,000 – 52,000 gross annual OTE (On-Target Earnings = fixed + variable pay). Salary ranges may vary depending on seniority, experience, qualifications, skills, and location. Full compensation details will be discussed during the recruitment process.
