- $32.02/HR starting rate
- Full range $32.02-$48.66 per hour, as set by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

- 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

About The Role
Join our team and become our new full-time Service Worker in the Public Works Department. This position performs street, sewer, water main, tree, building and property, and streetlight maintenance, as well as snow and ice control. Service Workers spend most of their time within one division but will be rotated to other divisions for training or as other Department needs arise. The position is represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers (I.U.O.E.), Local 150.
Your Day to Day
- Performs street maintenance and preparation, cold and hot patching, and sidewalk cleaning and sweeping; prepares, produces, installs, and removes signs and stripes parking lots for accessible spaces.
- Drives snow plows and salt trucks and operates all equipment used for snow removal and ice control.
- Maintains sewers, including manhole installation and repair, sanitary and combined sewer flushing, catch basin installation, cleaning, and repair, and sewer televising; repairs water line breaks at the main and B-Box, maintains fire hydrants, and exercises and repairs valves.
- Performs building and property maintenance at all Village-owned properties, including cleaning, sprinkler repairs, painting, electrical, plumbing, and minor carpentry.
- Plants, trims, waters, and removes trees and tree stumps; maintains and repairs Village-operated streetlights; and works at heights for tree work, sign installation, facility maintenance, and roof work.
- Operates trucks, bucket trucks, backhoe, front-end loader, roller, jack hammer, saws, graffiti removal machine, wood chipper, log splitter, chain saws, Vac-all, flusher, and sewer rodding and televising equipment.
- Rotates on-call duty, periodically works overtime on short notice, and reports for work in the event of emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications For Success
- Hold a high school diploma or G.E.D., or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possess a Class B CDL with an air brake endorsement (required); a Class A CDL is preferred.
- Bring basic knowledge of sewers and the pipes used, cleaning equipment and its proper use, water distribution systems and water line break repair, trees, and construction; knowledge of Public Works Department operations is helpful, but not necessary.
- Read, write, and understand equipment manuals, policies and procedures, and regulatory documents, with basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Ability to work at heights and perform “medium work,” exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and 50 pounds frequently, in a setting subject to changing weather, noise, vibration, and moving or electrical parts.
