Location: Farnborough (5 days per week onsite)

Security Clearance

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Portal Developer to join a major digital transformation programme within a highly secure environment.

This position will play a key role in the design, development, and enhancement of ServiceNow portal solutions, creating intuitive and user-centric experiences across the platform. Working alongside architects, business stakeholders, and technical teams, you will be responsible for delivering robust, scalable, and secure portal capabilities that support critical business services.

This role would suit a hands-on ServiceNow Developer with strong experience across Employee Centre, Service Portal, custom portal development, and front-end technologies within enterprise-scale environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain ServiceNow portal solutions using Service Portal and Employee Centre.
  • Configure and customise widgets, pages, themes, and portal components to meet business requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and external systems.
  • Build responsive, accessible, and user-friendly portal experiences.
  • Configure workflows, catalog items, knowledge integrations, and self-service capabilities.
  • Support platform enhancements, upgrades, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Follow ServiceNow development best practices and coding standards.
  • Produce technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and release activities.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues while ensuring platform performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to solution design discussions and provide technical recommendations where appropriate.

Desired Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience as a ServiceNow Developer with a focus on portal development.
  • Strong experience with Service Portal and/or Employee Centre.
  • Hands-on development experience using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, and ServiceNow scripting.
  • Experience developing custom widgets, components, and self-service solutions.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow ITSM and Service Catalog capabilities.
  • Experience integrating ServiceNow with third-party applications and enterprise systems.
  • Understanding of UI/UX principles and responsive design.
  • Experience working within large-scale enterprise ServiceNow environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience operating within government, defence, or highly regulated environments would be advantageous.

Required Certifications

  • Candidates should hold one or more of the following ServiceNow certifications:
    • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
    • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
    • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS)
    • ServiceNow Certified UI Builder Micro-Certification
  • Service Portal and Employee Centre experience highly desirable
  • Additional ServiceNow certifications advantageous
