Sessional Form F Assessor | £2,500 per Assessment | Mid Wales
Remote working with local assessment visits
We are recruiting experienced Sessional Form F Assessors to complete fostering assessments for a well-established children’s service in Mid Wales. You will manage each assessment from initial allocation through to presentation at Fostering Panel, producing a thorough, analytical and evidence-based Form F Wales report.
Although the role is predominantly remote, assessors must be available to undertake visits with applicants and other relevant individuals across the area.
Payment and contract
- £2,500 per completed assessment
- Paid upon completion of the assessment
- Outside IR35
- Long-term sessional opportunity
- Assessments allocated according to service demand
- Flexible working, including occasional visits outside standard office hours
The sessional fee covers the agreed assessment activity, including visits, recording, liaison, report preparation, supervision, midpoint review, reasonable quality assurance amendments and attendance at Fostering Panel.

Key responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive Form F Wales assessments of prospective foster carers
- Conduct assessment visits with applicants, household members, adult children, referees and other relevant individuals
- Analyse information from interviews, references, statutory checks and supporting evidence
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential assessment records
- Provide regular progress updates and escalate emerging concerns
- Attend supervision and a formal midpoint review
- Produce a clear, evidence-based report and professional recommendation
- Respond promptly to quality assurance feedback
- Present completed assessments to Fostering Panel
- Identify and immediately escalate safeguarding concerns
Essential requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification
- Be registered with Social Care Wales
- Have relevant post-qualifying experience within children’s social care
- Have experience completing complex social care assessments
- Demonstrate excellent analytical and report-writing skills
- Understand fostering, safeguarding, trauma, attachment, safer caring and the needs of children looked after
- Be able to work independently and meet agreed assessment timescales
- Be available for supervision, midpoint reviews and Fostering Panel
