We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Counselling professional to join our team and deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across our Counselling provision. You will create an engaging, inclusive, and professionally challenging learning environment that supports learner achievement, progression, and positive destinations.
You will contribute to the planning, delivery, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 Counselling programmes, ensuring provision meets awarding body, professional body, and College requirements.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will play an active role in curriculum development, preparing learners for industry and professional practice, contributing to Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) activities, and supporting colleagues to maintain consistently high standards across our Counselling provision.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, innovative, and professionally relevant teaching across a range of Counselling qualifications, including Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 provision.
- Support curriculum planning, schemes of work, assessment planning, and resource development to ensure programmes remain current, compliant, and aligned to sector expectations and awarding body requirements.
- Monitor learner progress, attendance, achievement, and professional development, providing timely, developmental feedback and implementing appropriate interventions to support learner success.
- Support learners to develop the knowledge, skills, professional behaviours, and ethical awareness required for progression within the counselling profession and wider helping professions.
- Contribute to the delivery and assessment of counselling skills practice, observed skills sessions, portfolios, and professional practice requirements.
- Support Level 4 learners with professional readiness, including guidance relating to placement opportunities, industry expectations, supervision, personal development, and progression within the counselling profession.
- Undertake Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) activities, including sampling, standardisation, assessment review, and quality improvement processes, where appropriately qualified.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to maintain compliance with awarding body, professional body, and College quality assurance requirements, including audit, EQA, and regulatory processes.

SKILLS AND EXPERTISE
- Relevant industry experience within counselling, therapeutic practice, or a related helping profession.
- Knowledge and understanding of counselling ethics, professional standards, safeguarding, and current sector developments.
- Experience of delivering, assessing, or supporting learning within counselling, education, training, or professional practice settings.
- Ability to communicate complex counselling concepts in an engaging and accessible manner.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment that supports learner achievement and progression.
Qualifications & Training
- Qualified counsellor with a relevant counselling qualification at Level 4 or above.
- GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or a commitment to obtain Level 2 Functional Skills alongside the post.
