Sessional Lecturer Position
Salary: £27.04 per hour + 12.07% holiday pay
This is a Sessional Lecturer position, offering casual hours on an as-and-when-required basis, subject to learner demand, programme requirements and timetabling needs. The role provides an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning within the HGV / CPC provision, alongside other professional commitments.
As a Sessional Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, creating an engaging, inclusive and professionally challenging learner experience that supports achievement, progression and positive destinations.
You will contribute to the planning, delivery, quality assurance and continuous improvement of Level 2 and Level 3 SWAP programmes, ensuring provision meets awarding body, professional body and College requirements.
Working collaboratively with colleagues and industry partners, you will contribute to curriculum development, learner industry readiness, enrichment activities and staff support. You will play an important role in maintaining high standards across the logistics curriculum and supporting learners to progress successfully into employment, further training or other positive destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, innovative and professionally relevant teaching across a range of HGV / SWAP programs, including driver CPC courses Level 2, Level 3 provision.
- Support curriculum planning, schemes of work, assessment planning and resource development to ensure programmes remain current, compliant and aligned to sector expectations and awarding body requirements.
- Monitor learner progress, attendance, achievement and professional development, providing timely, developmental feedback and implementing appropriate interventions to support learner success.
- Support learners to develop the knowledge, skills, professional behaviours and safety awareness required for successful progression within the transport and logistics industry through HGV SWAP programs and driver CPC training sessions.
- Contribute to the delivery and assessment of HGV SWAP courses and driver CPC sessions, supporting learners in developing practical driving knowledge, compliance awareness, safe working practices and industry standard professional behaviours.
- Support SWAP and CPC learners with professional readiness, including guidance relating to placement opportunities, industry expectations, supervision, personal development and progression within the counselling profession.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to maintain compliance with awarding body, professional body and College quality assurance requirements, including audit, EQA and regulatory processes.
- Provide curriculum support and teaching cover during periods of staff absence and contribute flexibly to programme delivery, including evening teaching where required.

Skills and Expertise
- Relevant industry experience within the transport, logistics, or commercial driving sector.
- Knowledge and understanding of Driver CPC requirements, road transport legislation, driver compliance, health and safety regulations, and current industry developments.
- Experience of delivering, assessing, or supporting learning within transport training, driver development, education, or vocational training environments.
- Ability to communicate complex transport, compliance, and road safety concepts in an engaging and accessible manner.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment that supports learner achievement, safe driving practices, regulatory compliance, and progression within the transport and logistics industry.
Qualifications & Training
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS). (Desirable)
- Assessor and/or Internal Quality Assurance qualification. (Desirable)
