Job Title: Sessional Manager for Day Care for Elderly People
Salary: £17.00 per hour
Hours of Work: As needed to cover for staff absences/holidays. Aim is 5 hours a month and 5.6 weeks a year to cover for Annual Leave.

Responsible for:
To manage the day centre operational needs and EAWA organisational needs.
Job Purpose:
- To manage the day-to-day running of Enfield Asian Welfare Association’s Day Centre(s).
- To assist the Existing EAWA Day Centre Manager or EAWA CEO in all aspects of Management in relation to the day care centre and Organisation.
- To work on Policy matters; fully engage in service provision and help maintain and improve quality standards like ISO9001.
- To help the community increase its awareness of access to Health and Social Care and other Services to achieve maximum quality of life for the Clients and Carers.
Duties and Responsibility
- To manage care support workers, freelance staff, and volunteers.
- To be responsible for the Health and Safety of the Organisation and manage the provision of a safe working environment for all using the facility including staff.
- To be responsible for the effective management and administration of all aspects of the centre, including Catering, welfare rights, transport, record keeping, issuing of circulars etc.
- To ensure that all necessary records, reports, etc are maintained and to help compile regular returns as required by the Organisation.
- To be responsible for Client Management E.g. Home visits, day care placements, Risk Assessments, Care planning, Care Plan updates, and liaison with Social Services.
- To cover for EAWA Day Care Manager/CEO when on holiday or for absences.
- To work on Day Care and Organisation Policy work/Administration/Management this includes Client Management and Organisation Needs.
Duties
Service Users/Clients
- To provide an environment which meets the physical care needs, emotional and social well-being of the clients, as well as cultural or religious differences, to a high standard.
- To undertake assessments of service users referred for day care.
- To be responsible for the placement at the Day Centre ensuring an introduction to the facilities and integration into programmes.
- (You will assess the client, then arrange a trial visit or induct client into the day centre: Set up the care plan and liaise with care staff as to the level of care needed by the service user.)
- To maintain client records for the Day Centre in accordance with EAWA’s policies and procedures i.e. data protection act by setting up Care plans, regularly updating them, and conducting 6 monthly reviews.

Aim:
- To use the systems in EAWA to safeguard the maximum welfare of the clients.
- To review systems.
- To introduce/adopt new systems for client management as required.
- To be involved in the facilitation of Day Centre activities, including escorting service users on outings or recreational activities taking place away from the day-centre. To be involved in the planning and co-ordinating of these activities.
- To introduce creative non-funded pastimes for clients.
- To be involved in the organisation of the A.G.M, festivals, and other such events that may take place annually.
- To supervise transport arrangements of Clients to and from the Day Centre and this may involve irregular calls for cancellation/change.
- To undertake regular transport reviews, ensuring that the transport is used for the maximum benefit of clients. Discuss additional transport needs with EAWA Day Centre Manager/CEO.
- To undertake written risk assessments of the Service Users, and report areas of concern to the CEO. Act on prevention and thus take steps to minimise risks and maintain client records.
- To ensure that service users are involved in decisions relating to the day centre activities.
- To hold regular meetings with the clients as a User Group, preparing items of general interest etc for useful engagement and conduct the Quarterly forums.
- To be responsible for all Casework i.e. Dial a Ride Membership guidance, Welfare Rights issues concerning the Day Centre and Drop-In clients, and occasional outreach.
- To offer informal support to Carers at the Day Centre.
Staff
- To conduct supervisions and appraisals, as needed for the care support workers with feedback to the CEO.
- Arrange all training or other requirements to manage the staff and to remain in keeping with EAWA Quality standards.
- To manage Volunteers.
General
- To be responsible for ordering provisions, refreshments, and catering within budget limits. (Have a senior care worker that takes most of this on).
- To control and maintain petty cash records.
- To ensure all monies are collected for fees etc, are properly kept safe, prepared for banking, and then banked.
- To be responsible for the Health and Safety of the Organisation and manage the provision of a safe working environment for all using the facility including staff.
- To report faults and check equipment.
- To hold Quarterly Health and Safety Meetings.
- To work on Day Care and Organisation Policy work/Administration/Management this includes Client Management and Organisation Needs. Must keep all policies up to date and implement them. Assist in the preparation of the ISO9001 inspection work: our Day care centre runs in line with a ISO9001 manual.
- To cover for EAWA Day Care Manager and CEO when on holiday or for absences.
- To attend staff meetings, supervision, and appraisal meetings as required by the CEO.
- To work in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.
- To carry out any other duties that may be required by the organisation, including out of hours work, commensurate with this post.
- The Manager must keep up and advance their knowledge by taking up courses and training in care management.
