NRL is supporting a well-regarded client with the successful delivery of a large-scale civils and infrastructure project.
Job Title
Setting Out Engineer
Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join an infrastructure project on a contract basis. This role offers the chance to contribute to high-profile construction works and would suit someone confident with site setting out and survey management. If you have strong technical skills and hands-on experience with civil engineering projects, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved immediately.

Based at Wilton
Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work as required
Contract Duration: 6–12 months
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Responsibilities
- Carry out accurate setting out and surveying activities across multiple work areas
- Establish site control points and survey networks
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and design data
- Ensure works meet design tolerances and project requirements
- Conduct topographical and as-built surveys
- Collect measurements using Total Stations, GPS and laser equipment
- Upload, process and manage survey information using software tools
- Produce setting out records, as-built drawings and quality documentation
- Liaise with Site Managers, Engineers, Subcontractors and Design Teams
- Report design discrepancies or clashes promptly
- Monitor levels, line and alignment during construction phases

Must-have Requirements
- Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer on major infrastructure, construction or civil engineering projects
- Skilled in using Total Stations, GPS and surveying instruments
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Competence in processing survey data with engineering software
- Knowledge of earthworks, drainage, foundations and structures
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Full UK Driving Licence

Nice-to-have Skills
- Sector experience in major infrastructure, energy projects, utilities, highways, rail or industrial builds
- Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Trimble Business Centre, Leica Geo Office, Civil 3D, LSS
- SMSTS or SSSTS, First Aid certification
Qualifications
- Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, Surveying or a related discipline
- CSCS Card (essential)
