SFIA 4 Product Manager – Public Sector
Remote with occasional travel to Manchester or Leeds
Up to £335 per day – Inside IR35
BPSS Clearance required
We're looking for an experienced Product Manager to support a major UK Government department delivering critical digital services that help some of the most vulnerable people in society access the support they need.
This role sits within a high-profile programme focused on improving digital services used by healthcare professionals and Government teams. You'll work within a multidisciplinary agile team, helping to shape product direction, prioritise delivery and drive continuous improvements to services that have a direct impact on citizens across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Lead Product Manager to define product goals, strategy and priorities.
- Manage and prioritise the product backlog to maximise value for users and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineers, business analysts, designers and delivery teams to deliver high-quality digital services.
- Engage with stakeholders across Government to align priorities and build consensus.
- Use insight, data and user feedback to inform product decisions and roadmap development.
- Balance the needs of a live service with ongoing improvement and transformation initiatives.
- Champion user-centred design and ensure user needs remain at the heart of decision-making.
- Communicate product vision, progress and priorities to a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Identify risks, dependencies and challenges, making informed decisions in complex environments.
- Support teams in delivering outcomes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

We're Looking for Someone With:
- Strong Product Management experience within digital, technology or public sector environments.
- Experience developing product roadmaps and managing prioritised backlogs.
- A proven track record of working within agile, multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience influencing and challenging stakeholders to drive positive outcomes.
- A user-centred mindset with a strong understanding of digital service delivery.
- Experience making decisions with incomplete information in fast-moving environments.
- Experience supporting and coaching teams to deliver high-quality products and services.
- Knowledge of GDS principles and Government digital delivery practices would be highly advantageous.
- Previous experience working within UK Government or wider public sector organisations is desirable.

Additional Information:
This is a primarily remote role for candidates based outside London. The team currently meets face-to-face once per quarter for approximately 1.5 days, typically in Manchester or Leeds, with occasional additional stakeholder meetings as required.
