SFIA 5 Product Manager – Public Sector
Hybrid working – Newcastle (travel required once per sprint / fortnight)
Up to £450 per day – Inside IR35
BPSS Clearance required
We're looking for an experienced Product Manager to support a major UK government department on the delivery and evolution of critical citizen-facing digital services. This is an excellent opportunity for a delivery-focused Product Manager who can operate within a complex stakeholder environment, balancing user needs, business priorities and technical constraints to deliver high-value outcomes. The client is specifically seeking someone with a strong track record of driving delivery and product progress within government programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and user needs.
- Work closely with delivery teams, business stakeholders and technical specialists to define and prioritise product requirements.
- Translate complex business challenges into clear, actionable product backlogs and delivery plans.
- Lead product discovery and continuous improvement activities to ensure services meet user and organisational needs.
- Make informed prioritisation decisions based on evidence, user research, data and policy requirements.
- Manage stakeholder relationships across multiple teams and levels of seniority.
- Identify risks, dependencies and delivery challenges, escalating where appropriate.
- Collaborate with agile, multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful product delivery.
- Support decision-making through the use of performance metrics, user feedback and service data.

We're Looking for Someone With:
- Strong Product Management experience within complex digital or technology environments.
- Experience working within UK Government departments or organisations.
- A proven track record of delivering products and services within agile delivery environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong experience managing product backlogs, prioritisation and roadmap development.
- The ability to balance user needs, business goals and technical requirements.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including delivery managers, business analysts, architects, developers and user researchers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Previous experience working to GDS standards and frameworks would be highly advantageous.
