Are you an engineer or supervisor in the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering sector, looking for your next step into a full Managing Engineer role? Or are you already a Managing Engineer within M&E looking to join a strong and stable company within the facilities management industry? If so, we may have an opportunity for you. You will be experienced in mechanical and electrical engineering and have proven experience. You will have responsibility for a team of M&E Engineers to ensure that planned and reactive maintenance tasks are completed on-time and to a high standard. You will be also responsible for a call-out rota, ensuring adequate and safe cover at all times.
What You'll Be Doing
- To supervise the team, being their daily point of contact, provide management support, guidance, training, and development to colleagues to achieve a consistent and high level of customer service
- Provide technical support and training to your field team and the wider business unit
- Control staffing on a day to day basis including management of an “on-call” rota and responsible to cover any on call gaps.
- Assist the Area Manager with relevant HR processes including, completion of return to work forms; handling and reporting of disciplinary incidents, conducting holding performance review meetings, managing colleague performance, scheduling holidays and absence cover, investigating, recording and escalating any accidents or nears misses following our Health & Safety Policies
- Provide technical support as required, e.g. advice regarding major operational issues and aid with major incidents
- Assist the team in delivering high quality PPM work
- Assist Area Manager with effective budgetary management of parts and material usage, reporting overspends and variances to budget
- Attend client and manager meetings on behalf of the Area Manager and provide general cover during periods of absence of the Area Manager.

You’ll enjoy working autonomously in a pressurised environment and be able to prioritise a complex and demanding workload. You’ll have excellent written and verbal communications skills, enabling you to communicate all operational issues within your region. You’ll be customer service driven and enjoy working within a people focused environment.
What We're Looking For
To be successful you will have:
- City & Guilds qualified in mechanical or electrical engineering (essential)
- F-Gas or Gas Safe qualified (desirable but not essential)
- 18th Edition (desirable but not essential)
- Strong post qualification experience
- Demonstrable management/supervisory experience (essential)
- Experience in a high pressured mobile working environment (essential)
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to supervise engineers in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to effectively plan and prioritise workloads
Other Information:
- Full UK driving license is essential
- As our clients can operate on a 24/7 basis, there is a requirement to be flexible with your working hours to protect service level agreements and provide continuity of service, including weekend working and on-call cover. (1 in 4 Saturdays, 1 in 4 weeks on call - included within the salary for this vacancy)
