Age UK Doncaster is seeking skilled, committed Trustees to help shape our future and improve older people’s lives. We particularly welcome expertise in finance, care, project management, marketing, communications and digital engagement.
What difference will you make?

By bringing new perspectives and experience, our new Trustees will help us strengthen our governance, think more strategically about the future and make sure we are responding to changing needs in our community.

- Reach more older people who may need support
It will also help ensure our staff and volunteers are backed by a Board that is engaged, informed and willing to provide both support and challenge.
For us, the impact of good Trustees is very practical: a stronger organisation, better decisions and greater confidence that Age UK Doncaster can continue to provide high-quality support to older people now and in the future.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for Trustees who will bring sound judgement, curiosity and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of older people in Doncaster.

We particularly welcome people with experience in finance, health and social care, project or change management, marketing, communications, social media or digital engagement. Experience of working with older people, charities, community organisations or regulated services would also be valuable.
You do not need to have been a Trustee before. We are interested in people who can think strategically, ask constructive questions, work well with others and bring a different perspective to Board discussions.
We would also like our Board to better reflect the communities we serve, so we welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds, professional experience and lived experience.
Most importantly, we want people who will take an active interest in Age UK Doncaster, understand the responsibilities of Board membership and use their experience to help us make good decisions for the future.

What will you be doing?
We are looking for new Trustees who will play an active part in shaping the next stage of Age UK Doncaster’s development. Our Board works closely with the senior leadership team to provide strategic oversight, constructive challenge and support as we respond to the changing needs of older people across Doncaster.

Our immediate priorities include maintaining strong governance and financial sustainability, developing our services, strengthening our profile across Doncaster and making better use of marketing, communications and digital engagement. We also want to ensure our services remain person-centred and responsive to the needs of older people.
New Trustees will be expected to:
- Contribute actively to Board discussions
- Help shape strategy
- Scrutinise performance
- Support good decision-making
Depending on their experience and interests, they may also contribute to particular areas of Board work or join a relevant committee or working group.
This is an important time to join us. We want to strengthen the Board with new perspectives and professional experience so that Age UK Doncaster is well placed for the future. Trustees will have a genuine opportunity to influence how we develop, how we communicate our impact and how we reach more older people who need support.
We are particularly keen for new Trustees to bring energy, curiosity and constructive challenge, and to work collaboratively with fellow Trustees and our senior leadership team. The role offers the chance to make a practical difference to the lives of older people while helping to shape the future of a respected local charity.
