Role Responsibilities
As a Share Schemes Assistant Tax Manager you will be working in the Human Capital Advisory team here at MHA and assist in the implementation of share schemes for UK and international businesses, including tax favoured (EMI, CSOP etc.) and non-tax favoured plans such as Growth Shares, Part Paid Share Plans, and LTIPs.

- Advise on the tax, commercial and practical issues surrounding the implementation of share schemes;
- Provide specialist tax support on due diligence exercises and transactions;
- Assist with share valuations, and liaison with our corporate finance valuations team;
- Provide ongoing support with share schemes where necessary for existing clients, including assistance with the compliance obligations, and registration and de-registration of plans with HMRC;
- Prepare annual share scheme returns, seek client approval of them, and submission to HMRC;
- Attend and lead client meetings where appropriate;
- Spot opportunities for relevant advisory work with existing clients;
- Generate new leads and win new tax advisory work;
- Respond to tax queries from colleagues at all levels including Partners & Directors;
- Correspond with clients and HMRC;
- Assist with the billing processes;
- Plan, control and review work carried out by junior team members to ensure work is completed within timeframes and budget;
- Assist in completing appraisals for all allocated members of staff ensuring that these are completed; and
- Allocate and review jobs / tasks, involve junior staff in advisory work and ensure junior team members receive training relevant to their level of ability.
What We’re Looking For
- CTA / ACA / ACCA qualified or qualified by experience;
- Experience in the implementation of share schemes, including tax favoured and non-tax favoured plans;
- Experience of the Employment Related Securities legislation and its impact on transactions;
- Experience of preparing and submitting annual share scheme returns, including liaison with clients on registration and de-registration of share schemes;
- Experience of client service, managing fee proposals and billing;
- Ability to train junior members of staff and actively involve them in projects;
