Location: United Kingdom – Remote

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced SharePoint Migration SME / Consultant to support a major Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace transformation programme, specifically the SharePoint to Google Drive migration workstream.
The consultant will act as the key SharePoint SME across the programme, supporting discovery, assessment, migration readiness, remediation, stakeholder engagement, governance and migration risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive discovery of SharePoint Online sites, site collections, document libraries and associated content
- Identify site ownership, business function, content volume, structure and usage
- Assess migration risks relating to:
- High item volumes
- Excessive folder depth
- Large/complex document libraries
- Complex metadata and permissions
- Content structure and versioning
- Maintain an accurate and validated SharePoint site inventory
- Perform detailed assessment of high-risk or complex sites
- Categorise sites by migration readiness, complexity, priority and remediation requirements
- Work directly with SharePoint site owners and business stakeholders
- Facilitate discussions around consolidation, restructuring, clean-up and migration readiness
- Identify and reduce Redundant, Obsolete and Trivial (ROT) data
- Support decisions around whether content should be migrated, archived, deleted, consolidated, restructured or retained
- Maintain the master migration site list, including:
- Site/business owner
- Technical owner
- Content volume
- Migration wave
- Migration status
- Risks/blockers
- Remediation requirements
- Identify migration blockers including complex permissions, permission inheritance, excessive folder depth and high item volumes
- Provide specialist SharePoint consultancy throughout the migration lifecycle
- Work closely with migration teams and third-party migration partners

Required Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint Online
- Proven experience in SharePoint discovery, assessment and migration programmes
- Experience supporting SharePoint migration to Google Drive / Google Workspace or similar large-scale migration programmes
- Strong understanding of:
- SharePoint site collections and document libraries
- Permissions and permission inheritance
- Metadata and content structures
- Versions and folder structures
- Migration constraints and blockers
- Experience with data rationalisation, site consolidation and migration readiness
- Strong stakeholder-management and consultancy skills
- Ability to work directly with business owners and challenge legacy structures where required
- Experience maintaining migration inventories, governance information, risks and remediation plans

Candidate Requirements
- Must currently be based in the UK
- Must have the right to work in the UK
- Comfortable working remotely with approximately one client-office visit per month
