SharePoint Platform SME - Manchester - 5 days a week onsite

£45,000 - £50,000

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Platform SME to take ownership of a critical enterprise SharePoint environment. This role will act as the technical authority for the SharePoint platform, ensuring the stability, performance, and ongoing development of both on-premises and cloud-based solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in platform support, troubleshooting complex issues, and leading upgrade and migration initiatives, including the transition from SharePoint 2019 to SharePoint Subscription Edition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the SharePoint platform.
  • Provide 3rd Line support for complex SharePoint-related incidents and service requests.
  • Support, maintain, and optimise SharePoint Server 2019, SharePoint Subscription Edition, and SharePoint Online environments.
  • Lead platform upgrades, patching activities, and migration projects.
  • Manage and support SharePoint Search services, ensuring optimal search performance and user experience.
  • Troubleshoot platform, infrastructure, and application issues across the SharePoint estate.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to maintain platform availability and performance.
  • Monitor platform health and implement best practices for governance, security, and operational excellence.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards, and support procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to stakeholders and project teams.

  • Strong hands-on experience supporting SharePoint Server 2019.
  • Experience with SharePoint Subscription Edition (SE).
  • Knowledge of SharePoint Online / Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Proven experience administering and supporting large-scale SharePoint farms.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • SharePoint Search Services
    • Managed Metadata Services
    • User Profile Services
    • Content Databases
    • Distributed Cache
  • Experience troubleshooting complex SharePoint platform and infrastructure issues.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, IIS, and supporting SharePoint technologies.
  • Experience delivering SharePoint upgrades, migrations, and platform improvements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
