Shape the Safety Agenda at the Heart of Howdens' Logistics Network
Howdens is looking for a Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Business Partner to join our premier warehousing facility in Raunds, Northamptonshire.
As the central logistics hub for the business, Raunds plays a critical role in supporting our nationwide operations, making this a highly visible and influential position. You'll work closely with senior leaders and operational teams across the site, helping to shape strategy, drive continuous improvement, and champion a culture where safety is at the heart of everything we do.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SHE professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing at all levels, and leading meaningful change. You'll have the freedom to drive your own agenda within the SHE team, identifying opportunities to improve performance, enhance engagement, and support our journey towards an interdependent safety culture.
Working in partnership with a high-performing operational team, you'll provide expert guidance and leadership across all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment, ensuring compliance, supporting business objectives, and delivering sustainable improvements that make a real difference.

- Driving a positive and proactive safety culture, influencing behaviours and promoting best practice across the site.
- Supporting the development and delivery of the site's SHE strategy and annual objectives.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on all SHE matters to leaders and colleagues.
- Conducting inspections, audits and reviews to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
- Monitoring SHE performance and ensuring compliance with key standards and performance indicators.
- Supporting operational teams with risk assessments, safe systems of work and hazard identification.
- Leading or supporting incident investigations and ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Designing and delivering engaging SHE training and awareness programmes.
- Building strong relationships with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
- Overseeing occupational health and hygiene monitoring activities.
- Championing elements of Howdens' Blueprint for Safety Excellence programme and embedding our SAFER Together values across the site.
Essential
What You'll Need
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar SHE role within a fast-paced environment.
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Environmental Management qualification (such as IEMA Certificate).
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Experience delivering health, safety and environmental training.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Diploma in Environmental Management.
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Lead/Internal Auditor qualifications.
- Chartered Membership of IOSH.
