About the Role
ILIOS is the Construction Partner for the UK's STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) fusion programme, working to design and build a prototype fusion energy power plant at West Burton in Nottinghamshire. As Health & Safety Manager, you'll play a vital role in shaping the safety culture for this groundbreaking clean energy programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of engineering innovation and contribute to a world-first project that will help create a UK fusion industry.
Responsibilities
As a Health & Safety Manager, you'll be working within the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Team, supporting them in delivering strategic and operational leadership on safety, health, wellbeing and environmental compliance. Your day to day will include:
- Providing expert advice on safety, health, wellbeing and environmental legislative matters, ensuring alignment with relevant standards and requirements
- Developing and implementing a proactive safety culture across the programme, working collaboratively with partner organisations
- Leading the strategy to achieve ISO45001 certification and implementing Best Available Techniques (BAT) and ALARP ways of working
- Creating and delivering metrics and dashboards to improve reporting and measure safety culture maturity progress
- Identifying emerging risks and threats, monitoring the risk environment, and developing appropriate mitigations

Requirements
This role of Health & Safety Manager is great for you if:
- You hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent, with Chartered membership of a relevant professional organisation (such as CMIOSH)
- You have proven experience in a senior role managing specialist teams and delivering customer-focused services in complex or industrial environments
- You possess strong knowledge of occupational health and safety management systems and relevant civil and criminal law
- You demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels
- You hold a Full driving licence and are able to attend site regularly (typically 3-4 days per week)
