Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager – HS2 Project

Costain has been commissioned to deliver the HS2 Rail Systems Tunnel and Lineside Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Systems. The scope covers:
- Design, supply, manufacture, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance (until handover)
- Tunnel services, including shafts, tunnels, and cross-passages
- Low-voltage electrical power distribution across the open route
- Ventilation systems in the tunnels
The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Contract Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) functions, providing strategic solutions aligned with Costain’s Group SHE Management System
- Support Contract Leadership & Operational Teams in implementing robust SHE policies and compliance
- Develop and maintain key relationships with all stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, project partners, and internal teams
- Provide an independent, objective view of SHE performance across the contract
- Act as a trusted advisor on safety risks, compliance, and operational best practices
