About The Role
Based in Maidstone, this permanent Sheet Metal Foreman position offers a salary between £41,000 and £48,000 per annum. You will manage daily factory floor operations, supervising production teams and coordinating workflow to meet delivery schedules. Responsibilities include allocating tasks to team leaders, resolving technical issues, and coaching staff to enhance performance. The role suits someone with solid experience in fabrication and mechanical assembly within the sheet metal sector. Strong leadership and organisational abilities are essential for this hands-on supervisory post. You will ensure quality standards are upheld while maintaining efficient production output across the department. This is a full-time, permanent role.
One of the largest subcontract precision sheet metal manufacturers in the South East are seeking a Sheet Metal Foreman to join their team in Sittingbourne. They cover fabrication, welding, finishing and mechanical assembly of components and sub-assemblies in ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
As Sheet Metal Foreman You Will
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the factory floor.
- Supervise production teams.
- Coordinate workflow.
- Solve production issues.
- Ensure customer delivery dates are achieved.
- Manage the daily running of the sheet metal production department.
- Allocate work to team leaders and operators based on priorities.
- Support Team Leaders with technical and operational issues.
- Coach and develop employees to improve skills and performance.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of new employees.
- Conduct probation reviews and performance.
- Review production schedules daily.
- Ensure materials, drawings, tooling and consumables are available before work starts.
- Support process improvements and new manufacturing methods.
- Liaise with Production Manager, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Stores and Team Leaders.

We are looking for a Sheet Metal Forman with the following qualifications and experience:
- Previous experience supervising a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Laser Cutting, Punch Press, Press Brake, MIG/TIG Welding and Assembly.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Lean Manufacturing, 3S/5S, IOSH Managing Safely, First Aid, Forklift Licence, ERP/MRP experience.
- Highly organised and self-motivated.
- Excellent attention to detail.
