Description
Join our busy warehouse team in Darton as a Warehouse Operative playing a key role in ensuring materials are accurately prepared and supplied for production and customer orders. This is a hands-on position where you'll be responsible for picking and moving sheet materials for our guillotines and routers, as well as preparing materials that are shipped directly to customers.
We're looking for someone who enjoys physical work, has good attention to detail, and can confidently check materials against job cards to ensure accuracy. You'll also need to be comfortable using a computer to support day-to-day warehouse activities. While previous warehouse experience is beneficial, a Forklift Truck (FLT) licence is not required.

Shift pattern:
- Monday-Thursday - 7:45am-4:30pm
- Friday - 8am-1pm
Key Responsibilities
Your main duties will be:
- Pick and prepare sheet materials for production processes, including guillotines and routers, as well as customer orders.
- Operate a side loader to safely move and retrieve sheet products (training provided where required).
- Pack products in line with customer requirements and company procedures.
- Carry out general warehouse duties to support daily operations.
- Check materials against job cards to ensure the correct products are selected and processed.
- Accurately maintain stock records using the computer-based stock control system and supporting documentation.
- Support the sheet processing department by operating equipment such as the polycoater and guillotine.
- Ensure all stock and customer parts are clearly labelled and identifiable in line with company and customer requirements.
- Maximise stock utilisation and minimise waste through effective handling and processing of materials.
- Handle products safely and appropriately to prevent damage and maintain quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, productivity, and operational performance.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the warehouse and processing areas.
- Follow all company quality procedures, working practices, and operational standards.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures, promoting a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, and visitors.

Please note: This is a physically demanding role involving regular manual handling and lifting of sheet materials. Candidates should be comfortable working in a hands-on warehouse environment.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Your profile
- Previous warehouse, manufacturing, or materials handling experience.
- Ability to accurately interpret specifications, job cards, and customer requirements.
- Understanding of safe materials handling practices and the importance of following Health & Safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and efficiently.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and conscientious with a proactive approach to work.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Comfortable using computers and stock control systems.
- Ability to learn and use a variety of measuring equipment.
- Willingness to undertake training and achieve approval as a business-authorised stamp holder.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out regular manual handling and lifting activities.

Desirable
- Reach truck or other mechanical handling equipment licences.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and its practical application within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of quality standards and processes relating to the handling and processing of materials.
- Experience using manufacturing or warehouse management systems and associated documentation processes.
- Experience working within a sheet processing, manufacturing, or production environment.
