The Opportunity
As SHEQ Delivery Manager, you’ll shape and deliver JSM’s site and project based SHEQ support, through effective management of an expanding geographically dispersed team of SHEQ Advisers. You'll be the senior authority, trusted by leadership and clients to secure and maintain SHEQ support that backs up our commitments and contractual arrangements.
You will play a key role in enhancing the practical on-site delivery of JSM’s SHEQ strategy, ensuring our onsite support grows in line with business needs, remains effective and efficient meeting client expectations and market developments.
It's a role at the centre of how JSM shows up as a safe and trusted infrastructure partner, working closely with the wider SHEQ team, Operations and external stakeholders support the maturing of our approach to be consistently proactive and embedding our safety mindset.
What You'll Do
- Act as the main point of contact for delivery of UK operational SHEQ support matters, building relationships and negotiating outcomes that support departmental and organisational objectives.
- Lead and manage a geographical team of SHEQ advisers to deliver day-to-day proactive and reactive SHEQ support services ensuring the team:
- Provide independent assurance (through regular audits and inspection) and advice on all SHEQ related matters. Ensuring that all requirements of the integrated management system are followed accordingly by each site/contract.
- Support operations in compiling, reviewing and revising project SHEQ documentation and welfare set up, which can include, CPP’s / QMP’s / Risk Registers / Method Statements / Risk Assessments / COSHH Assessment / Emergency Plans etc: where applicable
- Undertake site-based competency checks for those undertaking critical risk activities e.g. CAT & Genny Operations/Safe Digging, Plant operators, Deep Excavation / Temporary Works and specialist monitoring activities including, Alcohol & Drugs and Face Fit Testing.
- Undertake relevant facilities management checks of permanent depots and offices, including; fire alarm testing, legionella, notice board updates, coordination of statutory inspection records, and CDM documentation for relevant capital projects.
- Address issues and enhance operational effectiveness through;
- 121’s, Performance Reviews and Personal Development Conversations
- Management of rotas and CPP coverage across operations
- Internal customer feedback on SHEQ Delivery
- Use performance data / KPIs and dashboards to inform objective performance conversations with SHEQ team, management and where appropriate clients including but not limited to;
- Team utilisation and project costing
- Construction Phase Plan compliance
- Service Level Agreement targets for Investigations, Ticketing System and other activities.
- Work with the SHEQ Business Leads to cross train and upskill the SHEQ advisory team and ensure accurate and timely sign off, of investigations and other technical documentation.
- Lead, influence and coach stakeholders across the business to avoid loss or damage and support decisions that affect operational efficiency.
- Ensure the comprehensive investigation of all incidents, close call, quality issues, NCR and poor team performance, applying Just Culture and a Human Factors approach to establish the root causes, and necessary preventative measures to continually improve team performance and service delivery.
- Support the maintenance of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 certifications.
- Act as a visible SHEQ champion, modelling JSM's values, behaviours and safety mindset.
- Support the wider SHEQ team and take on other relevant tasks as directed by the Chief Risk & Safety Officer.

What This Role Needs
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Extensive experience in managing a geographically dispersed team, including performance management and personal development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify root causes.
- A demonstrated track record of driving continuous improvement.
- Strong project management skills.
- A flexible, pragmatic and diplomatic approach, assertive when needed, equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Computer literate and proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.

Qualifications & Experience
- Level 6/7 qualification in a relevant discipline.
- A formal SHEQ qualification (desirable)
- 5 year + team management experience.
