SHEQ Manager | Colchester Area | Up to £85,000 + Bonus + Car Allowance

Are you an experienced SHEQ professional with a strong background in COMAH, process safety and leading health, safety, environmental and quality functions?

I'm recruiting for a SHEQ Manager to join an established organisation based at their Harwich site. This is a senior leadership opportunity to take ownership of the SHEQ function, driving a positive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance and leading continuous improvement across a top-tier COMAH facility.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the site SHEQ strategy, acting as a key advisor to senior leadership and ensuring the business remains compliant with all relevant legislation, permits and industry standards.

As The SHEQ Manager, You Will Be Responsible For

  • Leading the SHEQ function and developing a strong culture of health and safety, compliance and continuous improvement
  • Developing and implementing SHEQ strategies aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Managing COMAH compliance, including Safety Reports, regulatory liaison and emergency response planning
  • Overseeing HAZOP, Permit to Work (PTW), Management of Change (MOC), risk assessments and site audits
  • Driving improvements across health, safety, environmental and quality systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 standards
  • Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action plans to improve site performance

  • Proven experience managing SHEQ within a top-tier COMAH environment
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a SHEQ leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of COMAH regulations, process safety and environmental legislation
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Diploma preferred)
  • Experience with ISO management systems and auditing
  • Knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA and SIL assessments
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and risk reduction
